    NaPoWriMo 2017 Haiku 575 - Day Eight

My goodness, what a day. What a weird, stressful day here on our workaway experience. It's certainly not going to plan. All the same, I managed to pen one haiku, so here it is. 45. croaking just for me frog in mud that no-one sees snowdrop drenched in dew #NaPoWriMo #NaPoWriMo2017haiku575 #poetry #haiku

    NaPoWriMo 2017 Haiku 575 - Day Four

Day four of NaPoWriMo. Cherry blossoms are featuring heavily! They are just on the brink of coming out properly, and they'd better get on with it because rain is forecast at the weekend and will surely ruin them. My haiku for today. 21. chopping down bamboo smell of cut grass, musty, dry colour of pea soup 22. countryside rush hour didn't know it existed slow view of nature 23. fly on cinder block jumps up when I pass and then settles down again 24. elevated road elderly dear

    NaPoWriMo 2017 Haiku 575 - Day Three

Another day spent mostly on public transport... so glad to finally be grounded now for a few weeks are least. The cherry blossoms are so nearly there, I'm looking forward to seeing them in full bloom! 14. spring sunshine cool breeze naked branches charcoal grey waiting for the warmth 15. empty park benches though the trees are full of buds just wait two more days 16. mountain forest slashed like a caesarian scar rope-way in springtime 17. KFC bucket elevated on a plinth moder

    NaPoWriMo 2017 Haiku 575 - Day One

And so begins National Poetry Writing Month 2017. I will be striving to write haiku, as many as I can, every day for the whole of April. Words that are in italics are Japanese - I like code-mixing in my haiku (using two languages together) and being a quintessentially Japanese poetry form, it only seems right to squeeze the language in where I can, as I cannot understand enough Japanese to write 100% in the language. So here we go! A month's worth of haiku coming your way. 1.
